Side of Casa Vicens.

Behind the panel is a porch and sitting area. Look closely and you can see the different cultural influences.

Located in Barcelona like, like much of his work, Casa Vicens is considered Anton Gaudi’s first major project. The building was completed between 1883 and 1885.

The house represents the blossoming architects first major work and sets the stage for the Modernisme period in Barcelona which he greatly influenced.

Being somewhat of a Gaudi groupy now, I have a personal mission to see and experience all of Gaudi’s work.

The man was a genius and each time I tour one of his masterpieces I become more and more intrigued with him. Seeing where his solo work started was not a disappointment and explains where some of his future elements come from.

Attention to detail was not lacking in this first house. From the tile work, arches, pocket doors, plaster detail, woodwork and design, he left no detail undone.

Many influences can be seen in the design and materials used in Casa Vicens. Most notably are Japanese, Indian, Islamic and Latin accents.

Gaudi didn't forget about the roof on his homes as you can see from these pics. The details and views from inside, outside, and above should all be enjoyed when taking in his work.

If visiting Barcelona, I highly recommend enjoying any of his projects. So far, I have not been disappointed!
